Love Thy Neighbour? Not On Your Fucking Nelly Is The Message From TV Execs

London, The Burglar's Bar, Pint Number Nine - A TV insider this evening confided to this reporter over a few beverages that racist 70's Brit-Sit-Com 'Love Thy Neighbour' is to be remade.

The much maligned 70's show featured Jack Smethurst and Kate Williams as Eddie and Joan Booth, a white couple with new black neighbours. Eddie is constantly at odds with his male counterpart, Bill Reynolds (acted by Rudolph Walker who also appeared in a cameo role in Ten Rillington Place, the true story of the Christie murders in 50's Notting Hill) while Joan, played by Kate Williams gets on well with her new neighbours, especially the wife (played by Nina Baden Semper, a bit of a looker who used to be a midwife at Hope Hospital, Salford in real life.)

It is felt by TV execs that with the election of Barack Obama the time is right to remake a series which, although quite popular in its heyday has since been touted as the worst form of racism in TV history.

According to our source, the remake, to be set in the east end, has a cutting edge script by Nick Griffin of the BNP and former TV magician Ali Bongo.

The format will replace Caribbean immigrants with African Americans in order to fully exploit the humorous potential of the Obama administration.

Hotly tipped to portray Eddie and Joan Booth are Jim Davidson and Barbara Windsor, although they aren't apparently aware of it yet. The roles of Bill and Barbie Reynolds are strongly rumoured to be awarded to Eddie Murphy and Beyonce Knowles, who aren't yet aware of it either.

The part of Jacko, the bloke down the pub whose response to any question is invariably: 'I'll have half,' has been written with Bolton funnyman Peter Kay in mind.

Who apparently isn't aware of his involvement in the project either.

A pub landlord lauded the plans as a 'great revival of a great British Institution - Racism.'

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
