It is not known for sure, but 'Red' Ken Livingstone, the former Mayor of London, is thought to be one of 3 people who are responsible for the sacking of one of Britain's best-loved or most hated radio presenters. The other two are probably disgruntled listeners who have had run-ins with the radio host before.
James Whale who hosts a late night phone-in show has been sacked by bosses at Talksport for urging listeners to vote for Conservative candidate Boris Johnson in London's mayoral elections. Cardiff-born Whale, who has been a presenter at Talksport for 13 years, has breached one of Ofcom's Broadcasting Codes where presenters are forbidden to show any bias towards any political figure before an election.
James Whale is said to be shocked and devastated at the action, which, in effect severs his ongoing relationship with his producer, known only as "Ash". Listeners would often tune in to hear the couple bicker like "Waldorf & Statler" or "Hinge & Bracket".
The shock-jock had even considered standing for Mayor himself in 2006 and was known to feel passionately about England's capital and the way things were being run.
One listener said to In Seine News;
"I suspect it as a case of sour grapes by an opponent who cannot accept defeat a bit like the sort of thing Robert Mugabe would do - anything to hold on to power. It could also be some nutter who has a score to settle with James. I hope he soon finds another job soon and I hope Ash has the guts to leave the station in protest. What ever has happened to freedom of speech? I think 'Greenpeace' should be called because clearly Whaling has started in this country"
