Danny DeVito may spur major investment in English seaside town.
The provincial, working class English seaside resort of Blackpool was given a boast yesterday when Danny De Vito was scene in the street. DeVito, of Batman Returns and Twins fame, briefly exited a restaurant before immediately entering a waiting car.
Local MP Nigel Burdon commented this morning: "This may well be the beginning of the investment and regeneration that Blackpool needs. The DeVito effect is already having an economic impact in Blackpool." Burdon could not comment on rumours in parts of the tabloid press that DeVito was in talks with Blackpool City Council, regarding supposed intentions to run for Mayor of Blackpool.
Blackpool has seen major unemployment figures since local industry closures in the 1980s, but DeVito may spell the start of a new era in Blackpool's fortunes.
