Politicians will sleep a little easier tonight, knowing that Jeremy Paxman (or Pantsman as he is now known) has revealed his private passion - collecting underwear.
"It is true - Jeremy has a fantastic collection of knickers, Y fronts and thongs. He has been fascinated in the subject for years, gathering the undies from across the world and through the ages." A spokesperson for Pantsman said."Whenever he finishes an interview with a famous person he always asks them for what they are wearing underneath."
His most prized possession is a pair of Marks and Spencer's boxer shorts that John Major gave him ten years ago - which he sometimes wears during difficult political interviews. "It was the fact that he noticed that these boxers had lasted a decade that he realised that standards had dropped so drastically and he felt compelled to complain to Sir Stewart Rose, CEO of M&S."The spokesperson continued
Apparently the only politician who has not given up their undies willingly was Tony Blair. "Blair said it was because they were Calvin Klein and too expensive - but Jeremy secretly believes it was because there were some fairly major skidmarks!" The spokesperson concluded.
