London - (Ass Mess): Barry George, the convicted killer of Crimebotch presenter Jill Dando, has won the right to a second appeal against his murder sentence which he says framed him for a vendetta attack by a retired senior cop working as a hitman for Prime Monster Tony Blair.
George was convicted of the April 1999 killing largely on circumstantial evidence and despite the lack of any murder weapon, witness testimony or credible motive.
Some gunpowder found in the pocket of his trousers was claimed by prosecuting councel to be part of the bullet that killed the TV presenter.
But no formal forensic link ever established that he was her assassin according to depositions filed in the Court of Appeal today.
George has now told his solicitors that he believes Dando was executed on Blair's orders after finding out some nasty stuff about him during the course of her anchorwoman job on the crime detecting TV series.
His appeal has yet to name the anonymous sources that he claims framed him. However, recent developments in the Serious Fraud Squad's probe into the cash-for-peerages scam may have unearthed exactly the sort of unsavory details that could vastly aid his second attempt at an appeal of the life sentence.
The hearing begins next Friday.
