Prince Edward-So Gallant

Prince Edward has shocked Royal watchers today by insisting that, whenever he has Royal duties to perform, then he is sent to the place concerned to do just that, rather than diplomatically left at a desk in "safe" Buckingham Palace.

In an emotional outburst, the Prince threatened to quit the Royal Family if his wishes were not carried out.

A spokesperson for the Prince said "...Prince Edward has decided that, whatever the dangers might be, he wants to be out there, in the field, and with his flunkies..."

The Prince has already volunteered to go to the Norfolk village of Thornham to open the new Community Centre there. This is despite his being an obvious target for middle aged women armed with fluffy toys and children with small bouquets of flowers.

The spokesperson added "...naturally the Prince will have some protection, but he is determined to be seen to be doing his job and to be regarded as just 'one of the boys'. We are aware of the potential dangers involved, but appreciate his wishes..."

Next week could be a particularly hazardous one for the Prince as he is due to fly out to the West Indies for a short eleven week break. Whilst he is there, it is anticipated that the sun will attempt to give him sunburn, however, again, he has shunned offers of dainty umbrellas and pergolas and is expected to expose himself to the direct sunlight of some of the regions most luxurious resorts for as many as eight hours a day.

It is thought that the Prince has been inspired by the brave action of his older brother, Prince Andrew, who has recently spent much time deeply embedded in bunkers. However, his dexterity with a nine iron has seen him thwart this particular opposition.

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
