A man has been arrested on suspicion of cutting a cow's head off in the middle of Bakewell High Street last Thursday.
One on-looker to the incident said, "in fairness to the bloke, he'd been on nights all week and the cow was mooing quite a lot".
Derbyshire Police have stated that the man in question has been bailed and will be appearing in the Crown Court next week.
Chief Constable Wicker was keen to reassure the public against further attacks. "We've got extra patrols on for the market this coming Monday - we're taking all precautions".
However, he refused to comment on rumours that there could be an organised pig chucking from the top of the church spire a week on Tuesday.
