A DIY superstore has acknowledged the agreement in principle to the advance acquisition of 250,000 new luxury sheds for the Conservative government should they win the next election.
The sheds are seen as a gap fill in the market of new affordable housing in the South East of England and the Tory Government aim to construct and finish a brand new town by 2016. Costing only £1,000 each, a typical unit will have a small toilet, kitchen sink with adjacent work-top.
With a small garden plot and open outlook. they look likely to lure hundreds of thousands of accommodation needy Londoners into the sticks.
The homes are not available for sale as they do not meet the current definition of what a house should be.
However, Brandon Lewis MP, Minister of State for Housing and Planning at the Department for Communities and Local Government is quite sure that they could get £800 per month per unit. He underlined that they will have hot and cold water, TV and internet wireless points.
His Labour counterpart was astonished at the proposal and literally had nothing to say.
