Street named after Michael Gove

Funny story written by Joe Leff

Education Minister Michael Gove has had a street re-named after him in Gravesend.

Michael Gove Grove is a quiet row of newly re-furbished houses recently occupied by newly-educated families and young people who have benefitted from Michael Gove's recently revised Education Bill. Moreover, the street is just wide enough for drivers to practise U-turns.

"I wanted to give something to this grove," said Mr Gove, " so they can use my name, 'cos I don't really want it."

The bread shop at the top of Michael Gove Grove will be re-named 'Michael Gove Loaves'.
Local town ramblers also plan to re-name their group as the 'Michael Gove Rovers'. They often end up in a cul-de-sac, and have to do U-turns.

Nearby Herne Bay, where yachts can easily do U-turns, will be re-named as Michael Gove Cove. And in posher parts of Gateshead, people are already saying 'by Gove', in preference to 'by Jove'.
A new shade of colour will also be added to the Dulux colour chart - Michael Gove Mauve.

"I hope he doesn't come anywhere near us," said the manager of Brighton & Hove Albion F.C.

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
