Following Scotland rugby union coach Andy Robinson's decision to withdraw five of his squad from club games for the rest of the season, a host of football club bosses are set to follow suit.
Its understood that West Ham's Avram Grant has asked Fabio Capello to ban keeper Robert Green from playing in any more club fixtures this season, while Man City's Roberto Mancini, Burnley's Eddie Howe and Wigan's Roberto Martinez have asked Giovanni Trappatoni and Craig Levein to similarly withdraw Richard Dunne, Chris Iwelumo and Stephen Caldwell from club duty as well.
No official reason has benn given for any of these requests but its felt that the moves would benefit the clubs immensely.
