SPL clubs face the prospect of facing each other up to 9 times a season if the planned reconstruction of the SPL and SFL First Division goes ahead.
The shock news was revealed when it became apparent that the controversial plan is likely to be voted through at the next meeting scheduled in March.
The ridiculous scenario could quite easily come about given the clubs will meet each other 4 times in league games and potentially another 5 occasions depending on the draws in the Cooperative Insurance Cup and the League Cup.
An unnamed source stated "in spite of the fact that the proposed reconstruction would see more income being spread around the smaller clubs, most would not relish the prospect of facing each other so often. The expected fall in attendances could be fatal.
The Old Firm, however, are rubbing their hands at the prospect.
They see this as a big step towards their ultimate goal - playing each other every week in a League of Two".
