Manchester City executives have announced that they are "serious" about signing the entire Crawley Town squad after the non-League team frightened the life out of City's arch rivals Manchester United in the FA Cup 5th Round at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Crawley, who are 93 places below United in the League pecking order, pecked away at the Reds until they were, according to United boss Sir Alex Ferguson "right pecked off", and were eventually squeezed out only by the narrowest of 1-0 margins.
Now, City, operating on the assumption that, any team who can push United as Crawley did, are worth having in your squad, have decided to buy up all of Crawley's squad of 20 players, and have offered a fortune for them.
Of course, once these players start playing for City, they will play like a set of schoolboys, which is what always happens.
In other news, Chelsea are out of the Cup.
