In the wake of the I.C.C. decision to ban Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir for 5 years after being found guilty of spot fixing, another crisis is set to hit the world of cricket.

The cricketing authorites are to investigate claims that most games are "inherently boring and encourage slothful behaviour amongst modern day youth".

This opinion has been increasingly gaining credence since the publication of a 5 year long, all encompassing report on the state of the game by the highly respected sports think tank, S.W.E.A.T - the Society for Wanting Energetic Activities Tried.

S.W.E.A.T have concluded that the pace of most fixtures is so leisurely that many unfit and lazy teenagers choose the game as an easy option for a career. The think tank reasons that any game that "presents rotund if not overweight individuals such as Ian 'Beefy' Botham and Shane 'Exceedingly Tubby' Warne as role models must seriously question the adverse effect it is having on youth".

The perception amongst the younger generation is that , apart from bowlers, fielding is a "stroll in the sun" and anecdotal evidence even suggests that a considerable number of younger cricketers favour the wearing of wrap around shades so they can "catch a few zees during quieter passages of play".

The I.C.C is expected to conclude its investigation by the end of the decade.

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
