image for Manny Brings Beach Chair to Left Field, "Pushing It" Says Torre

Unpredictable Dodgers left fielder Manny Ramirez surprised even seasoned "Manny watchers" across the league during the fifth inning of a game against the Cincinnati Reds last night when he dragged a blue vinyl beach chair with him out to left field and took what appeared to be a light nap for the duration of the inning's play.

The ball never left the infield during the fifth frame, so whether Ramirez intended to field a live ball or continue napping will remain unknown. Asked to comment on the player's latest outrageous stunt, Dodgers manager Joe Torre said in the postgame press conference that bringing a chair out to left was "pushing it," though he later backed off that criticism, saying "the chair was Dodger blue so I'm going to let it slide."

Reached for comment after the game, Ramirez was unapologetic, and asked reporters if any of them could help him inflate an air mattress for the following night's game as the beach chair caused "a little tightness" in his lower back.

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
