Embattled Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Mick 'Mick' McCarthy today laid out his plans for the next few months in a press conference following the 2-1 defeat to local Midlands rivals Coventry City.
'My job here is to ensure Championship football,' said Mick. 'I like to open up a table topping lead early doors, and then pull up the ladder and cease to gain any points at all from January onwards. This means that we end up in the playoffs, generate much-needed revenue for the club in those extra games, which enables us to buy a decent striker for the next Championship-losing season.
'As long as I'm the manager of this club, we will not get promoted. I've got more respect for the fans than that.'
Wolves' keeper Wayne 'Cognac' Hennessey managed to be no good again today, following his last few similar performances.
