There was much dismay around the Anfield Road Stadium today as the full implications of Liverpool Reds star utility player and MVP Steven Gerrard's hamstring injury became apparent.

Club physician Dr Lingerie De'Ath stated that the injury, which resulted in Gerrard's premature withdrawal from the Mersey rubber match was worse than had been anticipated.

Under fire head coach Rafa Benitez admitted that the injury to the franchise's star running back could have a negative effect on the franchise's assault on the Premier League Champion Bowl chase.

"It could have a negative effect," he said.

It's anticipated that wide reciever Fernando Torres will shoulder the responsibility for for the franchise's Premier Bowl chase.

Torres is expected to press for a salary hike as he is anticipated to be the main man.

Plans for a celebratory concert by ex-Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney at the Anfield Stadium to celebrate the franchise's nineteenth Championship bowl have been shelved.

Robbie Keane, recently traded to the Tottenham Hotspurs franchise in a negative equity deal said he didn't give a shit.

In the meantime the Manchester Red Devils United remain optimistic that they can win the Premier Bowl Championship race.

"It's great news for us," some red nosed Scotch guy told us. "if we can go the distance it puts us on eighteen championships apiece. They will not like that."

Many people were reported to be walking around Manchester chanting "Rafa's cracking up."

It seems that the supposedly witty throwing of the socks ritual by the Liverpool Reds fans at the Goodison arena, Wednesday (A reference to sock stealing felons who use the garments to disguise fingerprints in the course of burglaries) may have backfired.

A Manchester Red Devils United fan asked us what the difference was between Batman and a Liverpudlian?

We didn't know.

"Batman can go out without Robin," he chuckled.

More as we get it.
