Manchester City manager, Mark Hughes, isn't feeling particularly festive tonight, and certainly won't be looking forward to his Christmas present from the City board after this afternoon's 2-1 defeat at West Bromwich Albion - it's the sack!
Hughes, who took over at Eastlands in the summer, and has seen the club handed over to multi-billionaire Arab owners, has taken City to the brink of relegation, and they now hang precariously in 18th position, with only Blackburn and West Brom, already relegated, below them.
City fans have supported Hughes thus far, but their patience ran out at the Hawthorns, where the Baggies scored an injury-time winner to send Hughes scurrying to search the Situations Vacant columns.
The oil-rich billionaires Sheikh Mansour and club chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak were set to bankroll a January spending spree with the intention of lifting City out of trouble, but it's now believed that, should the Sky Blues fail to beat Hull City on Boxing Day, Hughes will be given his Christmas Sack, and shown the door.
It's allus a shame when someone loses the' job at Christmas, intit?
