Blackburn Rovers F.C., who sacked their previous manager, Paul Ince, on Tuesday, have acted swiftly to replace him by recruiting the leading 'manager' of an online fantasy football game as their new boss.
Douw Geldenhuys, 48, the present manager of Badboys F.C., is the current championship leader in the Barclays Fantasy Premier League 2008/2009 game, which is played not only in this country, but worldwide.
Ince was relieved of his duties after his side won only 3 out of 17 Premier League matches, but Geldenhuys' record couldn't be more different.
Badboys sit proudly atop the Barclays FPL this morning with 1048 points, seven clear of their nearest rivals, shrewsbury!!!!!!!!!, and a further 19 points clear of Chicago F.C. in third.
Geldenhuys was contacted by telephone in South Africa this morning, and is thought to be taking a flight to Manchester later today to sign a 3-year contract.
The Badboys boss has bought and sold shrewdly this term, and has managed to assemble a squad that has swept all before it. It's in midfield where their strength lies, with Ronaldo, Frank Lampard, Tim Cahill and Hull City's Geovanni proving the difference. Geldenhuys told our reporter:
"I attribute my fantastic success to the fact that my squad contains no Blackburn Rovers players."
