Rafa Benitez moved quickly this morning to distance himself with the speculation surrounding a possible move for Salford FC star Wayne Rooney. The speculation seems to have originated in the Spanish media and moved over to England appearing in less well informed tabloids such as News of The World, The S*n and Phil McNultys blog.
Rafa joked upon being questioned about the potential for a bid "It seems to be a translation problem, I did admit I was in the market for a wide man but Wayne is not the sort of wide man we had in mind though there are few wider players in the modern game."
Rafa also pointed out that another snag in the possible signing of Rooney would mean yet another revamp for the new stadium design, "At the moment the doors are only 2 feet wide and this would need to be thought about and we just don't want anymore delays."
