Long after the US of A decided that volunteers were the best way to go, British Cricket is toying with the idea that a draft American style.
The proposal sounds like something out of Vonnegut's Welcome to the Monkey House. Every 18 year old British subject and the UK's numerous illegal aliens (They must be from the Milky Way) will be required to serve in the Cricket League for at least one year!?
Critics are protesting the obvious decline in the quality of cricket matches. Supporters are thrilled by the democratic spirit of the new initiative and the sheer quantity of games. Ticket prices are expected to plummet faster than US currency since there will be more matches than there are British subjects, a true plus from the Labor Party perspective.
