Wigan Athletic Football Club will be under close scrutiny this Sunday when they entertain leaders and favourites to win the premiership Manchester Utd at the JJB Stadium.

Athletics Manger, ex-Man U favourite Steve Bruce has been urged by Chelsea and their players to make a game of it and to ideally win the title for the West London club.

Bruce however is thinking of resting key players in readiness for the forthcoming game with Emile Heskey, Chris Kirkland, Kevin Kilbane, Jason Koumas, Michael Brown, Marlon King, Titus Bramble and Marcus Bent not even making the bench.

Making her debut will be Janet Edwards, 54 and manager of the supporters shop, grounds man Keith Turner, 49, Harold Conway, 61 (Season ticket holder) and Hayden Jones, 7 and captain of St Mary's Catholic Primary School in West Houghton.

Bruce said that the changes were necessary as a number of his team were carrying injuries, injuries that many in the game believe that Bruce delivered himself in attempt to hand his ex -team the title. Bruce was defensive when approached by The Spoof saying 'How anyone can question my professional integrity and suggest that I am fielding a weakened team is a disgrace. Man U are……..I mean Wigan a professional outfit and as Manager of this club I will be praying that they lift the title when they………I mean we will put up one hell of a fight'.

Asked what would happen if Man U were 0-1 down with 30 seconds to go, Bruce admitted that he would run onto the pitch and score it himself.

We here at believe him.

The story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
