Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning, a regular in television commercials for products ranging from Sprint to MasterCard, said during his Super Bowl media day interview that he looks forward to doing even more commercials if the Colts win.
"Really, as much as I love football," Manning said, "the reason you're in the game is to make goofy commercials. It's what you dream about as a kid."
Manning, the laser, rifle-armed quarterback who holds a number of NFL records, has also done spots for Gatorade, DirecTV, Reebok and Tweeter (high-definition television), and the offers apparently seem to keep coming.
Tom Condon, Manning's agent, said, "We are fielding offers right now from Sony, Red Lobster, Sprite and Summer's Eve feminine hygiene products - hey, even Peyton sometimes gets that not-so-fresh feeling."
"Honestly," Manning said, "my goal coming into this season was to star in more commercials than my nemesis, Tom Brady. Yes, beating him in the AFC Championship game was nice, but at the end of the day it's all about exposure and endorsement deals. I mean, that's what this great game is really all about: money."
