The New England Patriots overcame the Los Angeles Rams to become the Super Bowl victors for a record-equalling sixth time, in what was one of the most tedious matches of football many spectators could remember.
The final result - 13-3 - tells the whole story. A single touchdown and two field goals were the only scores in this excruciatingly-boring encounter, which had some fans booing long before the end of the game.
At one point, the crowd screamed for a TV advert break, these being marginally less mindnumbing.
During the fourth quarter, fans all around the enormous stadium performed a Mexican Moonie - a traditional Mexican Wave with pants pulled down around the knees to expose bare buttocks - to show their displeasure with the teams, who, it was clear, just weren't trying.
Rams fan, Don Morron, said:
"It's a disgrace! Not even a touchdown to celebrate! I'm disgusted! I'm going to watch basketball from now on!"
And Patriots supporter, Jeff Mandrake, was no less annoyed, saying:
"Yeeeeeessssss! We did it!"
