As the whole world is preparing for the upcoming fight of the century between the era's two greatest boxers- Mayweather and Pacquiao, the only eight-division world champion Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao broke the silence as he revealed one of the most shocking secret ever in the whole boxing history regarding his true roots.
During an interview with international reporters upon arrival at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, the people's champ Pacquiao was first asked by the media about his prediction for the upcoming fight until a Chinese reported named Shingha Zhou of BBS News-China came up with the intriguing question, "Manny, some people, especially the Chinese, doubts about your true origin. The world knows that you are born in the Philippines particularly in General Santos City, however, in China, a news regarding the identity of your true father is circulating in every household in our country. We want to hear this straight from you at this very moment…how true is the news that your "real father" is not a Filipino, but a "famous" Chinese rather?"
Pacquiao, evidently shocked about what he has heard, paused for a while and suddenly confessed in front of all the media men in Mandalay Bay, "Para matapos na ang issue na ito, at para sa lahat ng boxing fans, sa kauna-unahang pagkakataon aaminin ko ito sa buong mundo, ang tunay kong ama ay hindi isang Pilipino… kung hindi isang Chinese… ang tunay kong ama ay si Lee Jun-fan, siya si Bruce Lee" (To end this rumor once and for all, and also for the sake of all the boxing fans out there, for the first time ever, I will let the world know that…my real father is not a Filipino…but a Chinese… my father is Lee Jun-fan, he is Bruce Lee)
According to reports, Bruce Lee went to vacation in the Philippines after filming the movie "Enter the Dragon" in 1972. Within the year, it was believed that the famous martial arts actor got so in-loved with the beauty of the archipelago that made him decide to buy a property in the southern part of country. It is highly possible that Bruce Lee or Lee Jun-fan in real life, met Dionesia Pacquiao (Manny's mother) somewhere in between and the rest is history.
This revelation was also supported by the accounts of former boxing champion Sugar Shane Mosley when he fought the boxing pride of the Philippines in 2011. According to him, "Only when he lands on your face is when you feel like you're getting dizzy. Either it's some kind of Chinese breaking bricks kind of thing, the 1-inch punch, or whatever, something like that".
