Calls to promote England cricket's new young hero, Joe Root, to captain were welcomed around the world today.
The 22-year-old who has scored centuries in back-to-back tests is being hailed as the man save England cricket following the dismal run under the leadership of Alistair Cook.
"Too right mate - make young Rooty the skipper," says Australian captain, Michael Clarke. "Give the youngster the responsibility of pulling the poms round.
"What a bonzer idea for wrecking his form and making sure he ends up a gibbering wreck in a home for bewildered English cricketers. Ripper!"
Visiting Indian captain, MS Dhoni, agreed: "That would indeed be good for everyone - hobble a bright new youngster before his career really gets going."
