TAIPEI,TAIWAN: Excitement is building as the official Olympic team is readying their rigorous training program. "Team Taiwan" has been enlisting the help of local townspeople to create a snow slope on one of the local hills.
Locals have been freezing ice cubes at home and then rushing them in relays of four people handing off the trays of cubes to the next runner in an attempt to get the ice to the hill as quickly as possible before they melt in the warm climate.
The overall time for the ice cube shuttling has been reduced from over 45 minutes when they first started to a mere 60 seconds for the four relayers to hand off the trays to one another and finally dump them on the slope which is 400 meters away.
The runners have taken to forming "zones" of 10 meters where the hand off can take place. Their mayor starts them on their run by firing a blank cartridge from a pistol.
Since the Sochi Winter Olympics are almost over the team was wondering if maybe they should just go ahead and sign up for the 4 x 100 meters in the next Summer games.
