PHILADELPHIA - The Boston Red Sox defeated the St. Louis Cardinals 4 games to 2, to capture the World Series title.

David Ortiz walked off with the MVP honors.

As any baseball fan and enthusiast knows former New York Yankees great Reggie Jackson is known as Mr. October for his fantastic play during the World Series.

But there are some baseball fans, mostly in the Boston area, who are now referring to David Ortiz and the new Mr. October.

Jackson was in Philadelphia on a speaking engagement when word got back to him regarding the Mr October nickname.

Reggie called up the Red Sox player "Say Ortiz, there's only one Mr. October, and that's me fella."

Ortiz reportedly told Jackson that he just read an article where he is being referred to as Senor Octubre by a sports announcer in Mexico who is considered to be the Latin American version of the great Dizzy Dean, El Loco Lozano.

Jackson said that he is going to call up Mr. Lozano and tell him to stop calling Ortiz, Senor Octubre because that is a translation of his nickname Mr. October.

SIDENOTE: Ortiz was interviewed by Hercules Confetti of Sporting Chance Magazine and David asked him, "Hey Confetti, this Reggie Jackson guy wasn't he a judge on American Idol?"

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
