NEW YORK CITY - The NBA after much consideration has decided that it will be prohibiting fans from hollering out the phrase "Deee-Fense!" whenever the opposing team gets the ball.
An NBA spokesperson likened the yelling out of that phrase as kind of like a fan at a bullfight screaming out to the matador to be careful of the charging bull. In the words of Confederate Civil War General Stonewall Jackson, "It goes without saying."
Several NBA historians have tried to trace exactly where the irritatingly boring phrase came from and they have been able to narrow it down to three teams, the Boston Celtics, the Portland Trailblazers, and the Miami Heat.
Commissioner David Stern says that he hopes that the rule prohibiting the "Deee-Fense" phrase will be adopted before the start of the 2014-2015 season.
