It was a bad night for England fans as their team lost their friendly match in Sweden 4-2, but in other games, there was even more drama starting with the incredible performance in Saudi Arabia of Argentina, who managed to hold The Sheiks, as they are known to their fans, to a 0-0 draw.
Saudi Arabia are not to be confused with Bury FC, who are known to their fans as The Shakers.
Holland and Germany also played out a 0-0 draw, but there was plenty of action in Armenia as the hosts easily beat Lithuania 4-2. Gabon and Portugal shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw, whilst in Hungary, the home supporters trudged off home in a right mood, after they saw their heroes thrust aside by Norway, the Norwegians winning 2-0.
In Austria, it was much the same feeling for the Österreicher, as the Ivory Coast won 3-0 in Linz, the birthplace of the renowned Nazi tyrant, Adolf Hitler. Sie werden nicht gemocht haben, dass!
Iceland won 2-0 in Andorra, whilst Finland came away from Cyprus covered in glory after a 3-0 trouncing of the idyllic-islanders.
In Bulgaria, Ukraine snatched a 1-0 victory, and in China, New Zealand either fought back to claim a 1-1 draw, or surrendered a 1-0 lead to finish 1-1; I'm not sure which. It doesn't really matter.
Finally, it finished South Korea 1 Australia 2.
