Football pundit Alan Hansen was mocked by fans today over his selections on the BBC website today for the tournament which starts on Friday.

He named a top four to watch of Brazil, Scotland, West Germany and Yugoslavia.

Brazil are ineligible for the tournament as a South American team, Scotland have failed to qualify for the Finals since 1996 when England beat them, West Germany was renamed as Germany in 1990 after reunifying with East Germany, and Yugoslavia now play as Serbia, after the break-up of Yugoslavia in 1992.

Fans took to twitter to mock Hansen last night. One supporter said "What a donut - everyone knows that Brazil is in South Africa" Another fan commented "Looks like Hansen has started early on the Tennants Extra this morning"

The Match of The Day pundits selections on the website had been changed to morning to Spain, German, Holland and Portugal. The last three are all in the same group. A BBC employee refused to comment today. The tournament starts on Friday.

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
