Following the sacking of Alex McCleish by Aston Villa earlier in the week, sources inside Villa Park suggest that former Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas will be the new man in the hot seat, early next week.
McCleish was sacked after 11 months in charge, after guiding Villas to 16th in the table, just two points clear of the relegation zone.
Portugese Villas-Boas, also known as AVB, was relieved of his duties at Chelsea after a 1-0 defeat at West Bromwich Albion on March 4th, just eight months into his role. His salary in the Midlands would not be as high as at the Stamford Bridge club, but the job does come with a free loan of an Aston Martin car.
A club insider told us earlier today "Man City have Mancini, Arsenal have Arsene, so we want Villas-Boas. It's a logical move all round"
AVB has been spending time at his holiday villa in Portugal since the sacking by Chelsea, but is eager to return to the game. His first role at the 'Villains' will be to improve the squad, releasing the dead wood, and bringing in new signings.
One target on the radar of Villas-Boas is likely to be French international Yann M'Vila - also wanted by Arsenal. The two were overheard speaking at the V Festival last year about AV - Alternative Voting, and are believed to have kept in touch.
