Following a traumatic first half of the season which saw Manchester United crash out of the Champions League and Carling Cup, the red devils announced that Paul Scholes has come out of retirement after just six months to answer the Old Trafford SOS - Save Our Season.
Scholes started on the bench earlier today for the FA Cup tie with 'noisy neighbours and Premier League leaders Manchester City, which United won 3-2.
The goalscoring gingernut is expected to be the first of many old faces to rejoin the club to help dig United out of trouble. Bobby Charlton and Bryan Robson will both return with the help of a wheelchair and crutches. Gary Bailey has been asked to jump on a boat from his native South Africa and get to Manchester before the transfer deadline finishes. There is no news yet on David Beckham, Eric Cantona, Roy Keane or Andy Cole. This follows the trend of Arsenal legend Thierry Henry rejoining the club when the window opened.
If it doesn't work for United they may have to call the SAS - Shearer and Sutton.
