The IBM computer Watson was feeling quite good about himself this week when he beat out two Jeopardy champions in a trial run before his first nationally televised appearance on the game show.
But the boost to his self-esteem was short-lived. Just before he left the studio, computer Watson received this text message from First Lady Michelle Obama: U R 2 fat. Learn abt my anti-obesity initiative. Get w the program.
Mrs. Obama had been watching the match on a special closed-circuit TV connection and was shocked by Watson's plump figure. But that wasn't all. At the lunch break, when she heard what Watson ate for lunch, she was appalled. Reportedly she said: "Two Big Macs, a large order of fries, three cookies, and a chocolate shake. C'mon. What a pig that computer is!"
At first Watson was extremely hurt by the first lady's text message. But then he decided to fight baok. He told friends that his eating habits were nobody's business but his own. "Why should I let pea brains in the government tell me what to do, when I have the best brain in the nation, maybe in the whole world?" he said.
Watson texted Michelle Obama back: Shove yr anti-obesity program where the sun doesn't shine. Hv a nice day. Regards to the pres.
Pleased with himself after sending the message, Watson headed to Starbucks to order up a hot chocolate (with a triple portion of whipped cream) and a large piece of chocolate cake.
