Yep, the name says it all. The new Barnes & Noble Nook Color is an electronic reader that will present books in COLOR.
Present Nooks can hardly wait to greet the new addition to their family. At a NY press conference, the stats on the expected arrival were revealed. It weighs less than a pound and has a 7" LCD screen. Prices start at $249.
An ecstatic Nora Nook, the head of the Nook labor union, was eager to share her excitement with reporters. She reminded them that pre-orders can be placed now and sales will begin on Nov. 19. She just couldn't resist getting in a dig at Amazon's electronic readers. "The Kindles are green with envy," she said, adding, "but of course they'll never know it, since the poor things can't experience any colors other than black and white. The Nook Color, on the other hand, how many colors will IT have? 6 million of 'em."
Meanwhile, the Kindles held a press conference of their own, discussing their impressive sales numbers, low price, high customer satisfaction levels, long battery life, and huge choice of books. Head Kindle Hedda remarked that for any book she had ever read, black and white had worked out just fine.
She went on to say, "As for 6 million blinding and distracting colors, who needs 'em?" Hedda then made a big show of putting on outsized sunglasses as she concluded her remarks.
