Race to Mars!

It may have taken an alien race aeons to do the original job, but next month a team of Area 51 volunteers will begin a challenge to rebuild a replica of a crashed alien craft in 21 days.

The 50m-long vessel, to be hewn from a single chunk of high grade Platinum and pure Cavorite will be built on the on the highly successful Richard Vernon floor at Area 51 in a joint project involving the CIA, NASA and the Scottish Space Agency (ScoSA)

The three groups have commissioned, ScoSA's top metallurgist Farquar Hoffe who specialises in alien methods of alloy work, to lead the team.

The aim is to recreate the alien vessel known as the Loch Awe Nonagon, which fell in the Awe, near the village of Ford, nearly 60 years ago.

The high grade alloy nonagon was finally recovered from the loch in 1977, after divers successfully deactivated the craft's anti gravity device and is currently undergoing conservation treatment at the Edinburgh National Museum of Scotland before been transferred to the highly successful Vernon floor at Area 51.

Dr Read McGhee, the outreach officer with the 51 trust, said "the team are using a mixture of both alien technology and NASA's modern day tools to ensure they meet their deadline to launch a craft in the race for Mars against the Chinese".

The US/Gaelic team know exactly what they are up against after their main rival Sun Laiyan said "We, the Chinese, are already half way to Mars after our secret manned mission to the Red planet in March 2009, and no one can catch us now, it is our ultimate goal of claiming the planet for the PRC by March 2010!"
