Joderell Bank - (Lunatic Mess): Huge chunks of the former palatial fortress of Atlantis have been photographed on the dark side of the moon by International Space Station cameras tracking a meteorite strike that destroyed the fabled ancient kingdom tens of thousands of years ago.
"If you ever wondered where all those missing sacred sarsen stones in Stonehenge ended up, we now have the answer," the ISS mission commander told reporters via a satellite link today.
"We reckon the meteor impact must have boomeranged a massive chunk of Salisbury Plain straight into the stratosphere, which ancient solar winds then fanned straight onto a second Sea of Tranquility lunar site area," newly reinstated NASA Commander Lisa Nowak said today.
Pictures from the ISS also show what scientists believe could be the legendary Diamond Throne of Isis - a twenty foot high ceremonial coronation chair hewn from a single slab of the flawless precious stone, encrusted with emeralds, rubies and saphhires and decorated with regal embellishments made of 24 carat gold.
The pictures have prompted feverish plans by prospectors to lay claim to the awesome booty which by all terrestrial rights belongs to the Crown of Albion, owner of the Stonehenge site.
"Of course, all this could be a bit of leg-pulling by bored ISS Russian cosmanauts," a NASA source commented.
"As everybody in the business knows, the Diamond Throne is up on Mars. Why else do you think we're spending all those $$$ bilions on that crappy Mars Lander story?"
