Flagstaff, Arizona (IP) - Scientists have reported that the Grand Canyon is rapidly filling with water and in some areas the water is already more than 100 feet deep.
The source of the water is a large iron spigot attached to a rock wall in the canyon. The water hits the ground and becomes salty almost immediately.
Sharks have found their way into the newly formed ocean and large schools of other salt water fish like snapper and grouper have been spotted in the area. Dolphins have also been seen swimming around in large numbers.
Locals are taking advantage of the situation and charter fishing boats are thriving in the area. Another business thriving in the area is the cruise ship industry. 100,000 tourists have already taken advantage of the low cost introductory cruises. Whale watching has become a very popular past time for the seafaring tourists.
The Russian and American Navy have begun to patrol the area in navy destroyers and soon their submarine fleets will be patrolling the ever deepening waters. The commander of the US Navy announced today that next week two aircraft carriers will be sent into the newly formed sea for training exercises.
