People are actually dying of boredom while connected to the most massive and comprehensive accumulation of data, communication links and entertainment in the history of the universe. Technology is advancing at a rapid pace and so is the speed of internet transmission, but ironically internet surfing is getting slower and slower.
Some may blame this on providers pushing service upgrades. Others point out that advertising is getting more and more complex with animation in the window or moving across the whole screen.
Whatever the reason, the result is that people are dying of boredom.
Health professionals advise people to limit internet usage and spend some real-life time. "Take a break, get a coffee or make friends with some of the people living in your house," says one doctor. So far no one has been able to accurately determine the number of casualties but estimates range from 1 to 1,000,000.
