Global warming experts have discovered a new problem associated with the coming catastrophe. Top NASA scientist James E. Hansen points to a growing concern over spatial warming.
Studies have shown recently that various parts of space near earth appear to be heating up. Recent measurements show an increase from an average of 0.01 Kelvins to 0.03 Kelvins, a 300% increase.
Hansen suggested that some of this may result from global warming, as an increased amount of heat from the earth leaks into space. Others point to a surge in solar activity, while another group of scientists think there has been a growing concentration of carbon dioxide getting into outer space.
Patty Glick of the National Wildlife Federation said her organization is concerned about the potential effect of all this heating on as yet undiscovered species in space, yet another example of the problem of the "unknown unknowns." Hansen is working with Glick and former Vice President Al Gore on establishing a worldwide approach to studying and then dealing with the problem. Gore is also working on a new documentary on the subject, with a focus on the dangers spatial warming could pose to glaciers on Saturn's moon, Titan. The working title of the film is "An Inconvenient Space."
Bjørn Lomborg, a prominent critic of global warming "hysteria," disputed the suggestion that spatial warming was a concern. Complaints about him have been filed with the Danish Committees on Scientific Dishonesty, again.
