An M.I.T research team has coined a new phrase, "Political Jabberwocky", to describe the art of using many words but saying nothing.
They have done an extensive study into political speeches and political speaking to root out any deep hidden meanings or messages.
The team uncovered one disturbing reality, they could not find any coherent thoughts coming out of politicians mouths.
No matter how hard they tried there was no substance in any speeches they listened to.
"Generally", said Jessica Sampson, lead researcher for the team, "letters form words, words form sentences and sentences make paragraphs. Strings of paragraphs usually convey thoughts and concepts and that's how people communicate".
It seems politicians have side stepped this communication model and have created their own form of non-communitive conversation. Words come out but say nothing at all.
We think it started with Lewis Carroll's poem Jabberwocky that was the first time anyone published something that meant nothing at all. The politicians had a big meeting and decided to use the poem as a template for public speaking.
The team has been funded for more details on this subject and will be publishing a paper on it next summer.
