The only popular daily drink named after a letter of the alphabet

Researchers at Magdalene College Cambridge have today published the results of their five-year study into popular beverages and it makes for fascinating reading.

They can now say that Britain's favourite brew, the common cuppa - tea or Rosy Lee is the only popular daily drink named after a letter of the alphabet.

And do you know we think that they're correct. Our science correspondent has spent all day trying to come up with another and he just doesn't think there is one. Why not see if you agree by taking this simple test.

Write down every letter of the alphabet, excluding 'T' on a piece of paper and then try the phrase 'A cup of...' in front of each one.

If you find one that works then be sure to phone our hot line and claim your prize donated by Tetley. It's one year's supply of tea. Tea...riffic!

Funnily enough though once you start to combine individual letters into groups, or words as they are often known as, then the task gets easier. We'll start you with one. Write down c-o-f-f-e-e and then put them together and you'll find that amazingly you now have a cup of coffee!

Just for a bit of fun see how many more you can work out!

The research has cost some £500,000 but the team think that it's been money well spent. Professor Lapsang Souchon told us:

"We are excited by the findings we have arrived at and we believe that this information will be of considerable help to some people at some point in the future"

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
