On a global scale, Alzheimers sufferers are forgetting to take their medication. "Cures based on remembering to take tablets are doomed to failure" said sufferer Arthur, who wishes to remain anonymous because he can't remember his surname. "It doesn't end there, although I don't recall where it began either. This morning I remembered I was meant to take my tablet. But then I forgot what time it was so I guessed I wasn't due to take it yet. When I did remember that I forgot who was supposed to be taking it".
This is a common problem amongst Alzheimers sufferers who frequently forget they have Alzheimers. Arthur went onto say "I do get lucid moments but I forget the last time that happened. But it's not all bad. Since we spoke earlier I've remembered I am supposed to take my tablet. Unfortunately I've forgotten which tablet it is."
The medical profession worldwide has been working hard to find a cure for Alzheimers for 20 years. But as one leading specialist has said "the research so far has been pretty forgettable".
