HOUSTON - NASA officials have just received a computer readout from the Martian land rover Curiosity which reports that it has run over what appeared to be a possum.
One of the NASA executives who saw the computer message noted that a varmint type of figure can be seen underneath Curiosity's left front tire.
Close up photos showed definite signs of fur and apparently the possum was not really hurt as it can be seen in one photo scurrying off scared as the dickens, as they say in Mississippi.
Early reports are that there was no noticeable damage to the land rover and further photos will be taken to see if any teeth or paw marks can be found.
SIDENOTE: One of the chief mechanics who worked on the land rover stated that Curiosity was built to withstand running over an adult dairy cow without sustaining any damage whatsoever.
