Western MA- Spoof writer Kevin Murphy has begun a new Manhattan project.

Inspired by talk show host Rachel Maddow, research and experimentation into making a good Manhattan has begun in earnest. Preliminary results indicate that Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey performs better than blended Canadian varieties, and two dashes of bitters is near optimal.

Mr. Murphy is not a trained mixologist, but in a peer-reviewed pitcher last summer, he claimed to have discovered the correct martini ratio (6:1) and how absolutely vital it is to remove the pimento from the olive. His peers seemed pretty happy when they left.

Depending on the success of this research, an in depth probe of the Old Fashioned and a deconstruction of the margarita, are planned for the fall.

The funny story above is a satire or parody. It is entirely fictitious.
