Gobblers' Knob, Indiana, USA: In what must be exciting news for chicken drumstick lovers everywhere and for a world where diminishing food resources are of grave concern, Indiana farmer Thornton P. Quigley has produced and raised a flock of fully developed three-legged chickens.
An on-site visit to the farm by this writer found the flock foraging for grasshoppers alongside the dusty road a mile away from the farm. The speedy three-legged wonders ran side-by-side with my automobile as I approached the farm, easily pacing my speed of 45 mph.
After meeting farmer Quigley, touring the facilities, hearing the details of the selective breeding process, and enjoying a cold lemonade, I asked about the taste of the new and improved chicken design...
"Well, that's the downside to the whole matter", the farmer said... "Them dang three-legged chickens is too darn fast fer anybody to catch and find out".
