The world of science is today in a state of shock with the revelation the recent cold winters in the UK and other places in northern Europe are directly linked the temperature of the Earth's only source of heat.
Scientists are said to be perplexed that a sharp decrease in the drop in heat omitted by the sun could be solely responsible for such a dramatic cooling in the temperature experience in northern Europe during winter.
Scientist, Michael Sola, told reporters, 'The latest satellite data shows the UV output of the Sun is plays a much bigger part in heating the Earth than we had previously thought.'
'To say we were stunned to find that the temperature of the object that heats the planet had such a succinct correlation to the temperature of said planet was a great surprise to us all.'
'I personally have always wondered why i feel hotter when the sun is closer to us.'
'But now it all seems so obvious.'
Mr Sola suggested the scientific community would be expanding their research to examine other troublesome sources of weather phenomena which can cost hundreds of thousands of lives.
'I would expect we would be looking at the possible links between rainfall and flooding, but it might be a little early to second guess the outcome of such research.'
'I fancy my chance of finding a direct correlation between strong gusts of wind and the occurrence of hurricanes.'
'Watch this space.'
