In the week leading up to Valentine's Day, more than 35 million heart-shaped boxes of chocolate are purchased and over $1 billion worth of chocolate is sold in the U.S.
The editors applaud the chocolate companies, like Whitman's, who give the consumer a chart with each chocolate box that lists each filling, so you can choose the ones you like best.
But let the chocolate eater beware! While most chocolates are made with scrumptious fillings like maple cream, cherry, caramel, nuts, and coconut, we have learned that some Valentines have received chocolates with the following "unfortunate" fillings. These are the fillings that should never have been put in chocolates:
1. liver pate
2. jalapeno pepper
3. radish
4. tuna
5. green olive
6. egg salad
7. beet
8. mushroom
9. tofu
10. limburger cheese
11. hot dog
12. bean sprout
13. celery
14. sardine
15. pepperoni
16. bacon
17. kale
18. black bean
19. shrimp
20. prune
