Michael Owen has joined Stoke City on a one year contract.
This ends speculation he would rejoin old club on Merseyside, Joke City.
Owen was persuaded to join after a 30 minute conversation with life-long Stoke City fan and comedian Nick Hancock.

The deal was finally completed three days after the Transfer Window closed. When asked by journalists for a comment,
Hancock, former presenter of a BBC sport & comedy panel show replied "They Think Its All Over - IT IS NOW"
Adding to his tally of 89 caps and 40 goals for England may be out a hope too far for the 32 year old Owen, who last started a Premier League match two years ago.
He may have to settle for playing at the Britannia...
