Ex Liverpool and England midfielder John Barnes has spoken out against racism by saying:

"England is a country of passive racists"

While Back and to the Left news cannot help but admit that there have been several unsavoury incidents involving racism at football matches, what John is saying is surely a little extreme: considering he was born in Jamaica and played at the highest international level for this country. We are not sure if a country of passive racists would have been so accommodating.

Mr Barnes has previously mentioned that black managers don't get a look in the top flight. He's obviously jumping on the Paul Ince bandwagon of "it's not because I'm shite, it's because I'm black". It's a shame really John proved he was a terrible manager at Celtic and Paul couldn't cut it at Blackburn but then again neither could Steve Kean and we all know what a top drawer manager he is. They weren't sacked because of their skin colour it was because football is one of the most ruthless businesses in the world, and they were victims of that.

We respect Mr Barnes and his campaigning against racism but we are not a country of racists (passive or aggressive). We are a proud country of accepting and accommodating people and don't really take kindly to been called racists when we put the flag of St George outside of our homes. In other news Liverpool will offer Luis Suarez a 25% pay rise in an attempt to stop him moving abroad.

As for Back and to the Left news we can't be racist as we have a black friend.
