Why are we ALL putting up with this CRAP?

Here I am trying to watch an MI5 show on my TV in Canada. We have a fairly large sized TV screen. Or so we bloody well thought. BUT the actual viewing area is about a quarter of our screen coz there are two side-bars advertizing WQLN running down the left and right sides of the freaking screen.

Also...there are thick black lines at the top and bottom of the screen. We are being ripped off.What the hell can we DO?

Shoot. It is bloody disgusting and I don't know who to call or what to do. Any ideas ?

Anyone else pissed off about this...or is it just Lady Godiva?
